Pumpkin Time

Fall is here, though you sure wouldn't know it by the temperature outside! We are on our second round of fall mums on the front porch because the first batch just couldn't handle the heat. I am itching to wear something with at least quarter-length sleeves, but it still is just too warm. Despite the weather not cooperating, we are just weeks away from Halloween and so that meant it was fall picture time.

Now in our small town, there is a farmer's market that hails a very large pile of pumpkins every year and nearly everyone I know takes their kids there for pumpkin pictures. Most of the preschools take a field trip to see the pumpkins, and every child who visits gets their own mini pumpkin to take home. This year they even set up a hay bale backdrop for people to pose their children in front. It is a very big deal here. So on Friday, after "Meme" got here, we had around an hour to kill before Gary would get home from the clinic so we loaded up to check out the pumpkins and take pictures.

On Saturday we went to Zach's soccer game. They were playing a team that is known as the best in their division, and most of the kids on the team were close to two years older than our players. It was a tough game, but Zach played pretty well.

I am really looking forward to the temperatures cooling off a bit so that we can really experience fall. It seems like some years we jump straight from summer to winter! I hope that we will get at least a month of transition. There is just something about that crisp, cool autumn air that makes me smile!
