Summer Vacation 2009

With our house sold, and things finally calming down a bit, Gary and I decided to take a relaxing family vacation. Due to our son's craze with all things Lego, we decided to fly out to San Diego, CA for a trip to Legoland.

Zach was nervous on our flight out, but by the way back he declared that he loved flying.

In true California fashion, our rental car was a hybrid!!!

Our hotel had breathtaking views and had a private entrance to Legoland. We were a few miles from the ocean. When Zach saw the pelicans, he asked Gary when pelican season was! (A budding hunter, or what?)

Zach got his driver's license at the Volvo Driving School!

The Lego miniland was unbelievable. There were exact replicas of cities made from Legos.

No visit would be complete without a picture taken with a Lego man.

Zach spent a great deal of time in the Lego building room, where you could build your own car and race other people's cars. He did not want to quit building, but eventually we coaxed him out of there after his car earned second place.

The aquarium at Legoland was beautiful!

However, they did have a rather odd fish in this tank!

We ate lunch once at In-n-Out Burger and it was definitely up to the hype. Best fast food burger and fries ever!

We visited an aircraft carrier. I am not up on my planes, but I am pretty sure this is like the one that Gary said they flew in the movie "Top Gun".

Dinner overlooking the bay. We got to see lots of sailboats as the sun was setting.

A final swim before we had to head home.

We had a great time!!!!!
