Field Trips

If there was ever any doubt that teachers do not get paid enough, a day at the zoo with Zach's kindergarten class confirmed that a pay raise is in order. At moments, I found myself wishing that I was behind those cages with the animals! However, it was a fun little field trip, and the kids had a great time.

The day was not without its drama, though. It started out with a classmate being told that due to his behavior problems he could not attend--to which he responded by screaming and running out of the school. After two teachers and the school counselor chased him down, he was taken to the office, and we all proceeded to load up. As the zoo tour was coming to a close, one of the students got too hot and passed out and had to be taken to the hospital. He is fine now, but it was a scary moment.

Here is a picture of Zach with a zebra, which he proclaimed to be his favorite animal. I think this is because he and the Zebra spent a great deal of time being discussed during "Z" week....since there aren't that many things that start with a "Z".

And here are the flamingos, which were our last stop. Zach was tired at this point, but managed a smile anyway.

This weekend, we visited a local train museum. One of Gary's patients works there and he gave us a tour of a caboose built in 1931.
