Clean Up, Clean Up...Everybody, Everywhere

I have been chanting this preschool song all day. I am looking at the biggest disaster to hit my house probably since we moved in. The aftermath of Christmas is quite messy! We had a great Christmas. It was nice to spend the weekend and Christmas day with our families. Zach was very excited about Santa coming, but all of that excitement could not get that sleepy boy out of bed. (When Gary and I were five, we remember that we would awake around 5 am and bother our parents for the next hour when they finally conceeded and let us open presents and see what Santa had brought.) I had set my alarm for 7:00 a.m. on Christmas morning, and Gary and I figured we would be awakened long before it went off. At 7:30 am, Gary and I decided to turn on the T.V. in our room because that usually wakes Zach up. At 7:40 am, Gary turned up the volume on the T.V. and it still did nothing. At 7:45 am, Gary and I could no longer contain ourselves and we woke up our sleepy little angel. He was very excited that we had woken him up! Zach had asked for a Leapster, a Spiderman scooter, a bow and arrow and a game to plug into the T.V. He was greeted by all of those things laying around the fireplace, and he was very excited about it all.

Zach got to go home with Grandpa and Grandma for a few days. On Tuesday afternoon, Gary and I loaded up to go on a mini-hunting trip that his nurses had given him. At six a.m. on Wednesday morning (which was Gary's 31st birthday!), I joined Gary in the deer stand. I did this purely out of love for him, because I was not thrilled with freezing or watching Bambi's mom get shot. (I do, however, enjoy eating the meat.) After we had taken the deer to the processor and gotten packed, we went to shop, eat and enjoy the rest of our day.

So here we are to today. A day of cleaning, reorganizing and deciding on what resolutions I will commit to. Since I am supposed to get Zach tomorrow at noon, I really need to take this cleaning thing seriously while I have the chance! I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday and that you made special memories with your loved ones.

P.S. Some of my friends from the windy city have been asking about my car. (And might I add that you are extremely observant!) Yes, we did get a new car for me back in August. It is a Honda Pilot and I absolutely love it. It has a DVD player built in which is great for our car trips (and we make quite a few of them for shopping now). It also has super comfy seats, which was important because my old car was hurting my back.
